Linda Caradus

Linda Caradus is an actuary with technical expertise in life insurance and superannuation. Her experience includes general management responsibilities within life offices. She assists life offices in all aspects of their long-term business, including analysis and monitoring of experience, Margin on Services and Embedded Value reporting, product design and premium rating.

Linda also advises trustees and employers on the operation of superannuation schemes.

Neil Christie

Neil Christie is an actuary specialising in the fields of workers'compensation and general insurance. He has a background in insurance and reinsurance. He has also worked in a product and systems development role for a London-based company arranging insurances at Lloyd's.

His experience includes the development and implementing of marketing and business strategies, product development, claims management and distribution channel support and training.

Janet Lockett

Janet Lockett is an actuary specialising in general insurance and health insurance. Her expertise covers rate-making, product design, claims analyses and reserving. She advises that effective management reporting systems are required to enable adequate monitoring of each line of business. She also advises on solvency and aspects of risk management, including reinsurance and the use of catastrophe models.

Janet enjoys carrying out unusual actuarial projects, including work for smaller clients.

Craig Lough

Craig Lough is an actuary specialising in the field of general insurance. He began his career at Melville Jessup Weaver before working in Australia and then the UK. During his time away he worked for a large London consulting office as well as multinational insurance companies both in Australia and the UK.

Craig's broad array of experience includes valuation, basis setting, auditing, process improvement, and exposure to IFRS and USGAAP.

John Melville

John Melville is an actuary with technical expertise in all aspects of the operations of superannuation schemes. He has extensive experience of life office financial operations, including solvency and embedded value calculations.

John also works on health insurance and more general actuarial projects. He has had direct involvement in software development for administration and valuation of superannuation schemes and life companies.

John has several times served terms as the New Zealand Government Actuary

Ian Midgley

Ian Midgley is an actuary with extensive experience in all aspects of superannuation, having originally worked for Bacon and Woodrow, a leading firm of actuaries in the UK.

Ian has over 25 years experience in all aspects of superannuation consulting, including actuarial valuations, scheme design, member communications and superannuation legislation.   He also has extensive experience in investment consulting to trustees of superannuation schemes, including the establishment of investment objectives, investment strategy, investment manager structure advice and appointment and monitoring of investment performance.

Bernard Reid

Bernard Reid is an actuary with extensive experience in all aspects of superannuation and investment consulting.   He has advised many New Zealand superannuation schemes in areas such as benefit design, actuarial issues, investment strategy, IAS19 and FASB accounting.

Bernard was a member of the Government-appointed Workplace Savings Working Group whose report led to the development of KiwiSaver.

Prior to joining Melville Jessup Weaver, Bernard was at Watson Wyatt/ Mercer for 14 years, where he was the national practice leader of retirement consulting.

Mark Weaver

Mark Weaver is an actuary who specialises in superannuation, asset consulting and workers compensation. He has provided advice on superannuation schemes to a large number of corporate clients and trustees and is a past chairman of the Association of Superannuation Funds of New Zealand.

His interest in asset consulting goes back to the time when he completed a degree in econometrics. He has been heavily involved in the workers compensation market, including working with corporates on assessing ACC Partnership Programme options.

Mark is a past-President of the New Zealand Society of Actuaries.
